How to access Anubis & Nexus — the complete walkthrough

Step 1. Install Tor Browser from torproject.org directly — not from a third-party mirror. Verify the installer’s signature against the Tor Project’s published key before running it.

Step 2. Open Tor Browser. Click the shield icon top-right and set the security slider to Safest. Standard mode allows JavaScript and remote fonts, which expand the browser’s attack surface beyond what is necessary for the access flow. Safest disables both.

Step 3. Bookmark this directory homepage on the clearnet, not the onion address you intend to visit. The directory rotates onion addresses as operators rotate them; a bookmarked onion will eventually fall out of rotation, while a bookmarked directory stays current.

Step 4. Copy the onion address you want from the Anubis or Nexus detail page using the Copy button. Do not retype. The single most common phishing-vector at this stage is a typo on a 56-character v3 onion landing on a clone with one character different.

Step 5. Paste the address into Tor Browser’s address bar. Wait for the page to load. If a Cloudflare-style or platform-native challenge page appears, complete it; the Tor exit selection is unrelated to the challenge difficulty — some Tor circuits hit the challenge harder than others, “New Tor Circuit for this Site” in the menu rotates without restarting the browser.

Step 6. On the login page, double-check the URL one last time against this directory before entering credentials. If anything looks off — an extra character, a typo, an unexpected redirect — close the tab and start over from step 4.
